Fraternity and Testimonials

The Commercial Education Society of Australia (CESA) is committed to fostering professional development, scholarship, fellowship and genuine collegiality among its Fellows. At the heart of this work is the Journal of Commercial Education (JCE), which provides a scholarly platform for original research, informed commentary, reflection and professional practice in commercial education.

CESA supports its Fellowship through:

• The Journal of Commercial Education (JCE): Published twice a year, the Journal brings together contributions from Fellows and friends of the Society, encouraging scholarship, professional discussion and the exchange of ideas. 
• Professional Mentoring and Networking: Fellows are encouraged to share their experience, make introductions, open doors and support one another at different stages of their professional lives. 
• Social Gatherings and Celebrations: Occasional gatherings provide an opportunity to recognise achievements, strengthen friendships and professional networks, and maintain the spirit of fellowship that has characterised CESA for more than a century. 
• Professional and Employment Opportunities: Where appropriate, CESA encourages the sharing of opportunities, connections and information that may assist Fellows in their professional development and careers. 

Together, these activities help create a supportive community of educators, practitioners, scholars and professionals who believe in helping one another succeed and contributing more than is simply expected of them.

“I came to Australia from Hong Kong to study in the 1980s. My course included shorthand, shorthand speed, typing, bookkeeping and office practice. I did all of my exams through the Commercial Education Society of Australia. I had heard of it vaguely because a few people I knew at school had done the CESA typing exams. They found that they could get better jobs with a CESA certificate. The CESA exams were the start of a successful career, and a successful life. And, yes, my parents enrolled my younger brother into the same college in Sydney. He now has a property business and uses the skills he learnt and succeeded in with the CESA exams.”
